Week 3 Infograph

In the infographic above, I addressed the 3 main points of chapter 5 in How People Learn ( NASEM 2018).  These three ways are retrieval practices, spaced practice and interleaved practice.  All three points concentrate on the best way to aid students with the recall and retention of information.  I tied the three main ideas with Gura's idea of creativity (Gura, 2016).  Gura believes that creativity aids in retention and belongs in all classrooms.  I also tied ISTE standard 6a to this assignment by listing several different technology tools that can be utilized to aid in the retention of content.
I learned quite a bit this week.  I love the idea of having students learn the curriculum by exploring multiple avenues.  In my content area, I think that a great assignment that would incorporate all of these aspects would be: having students read a passage from The Grapes of Wrath.  After having the students read the passage, they can break into groups so that they can use google docs to write the passage as a script.  After the script is complete, then they can use a video app to record the group preforming the script in a short film.  The films can then be uploaded to youtube and shared with the rest of the class.
By having the same material presented to the students multiple times in different formats, as well as having them use creative measures, the goal would be for them to then have mastered the passage that was originally presented to them.

I thought your infograph looked very professional and well organized. I really related to retrieval skills and the app Anki you spoke of because I used and app in my undergrad that I could create flash cards on. I also like Quizlet on how you can create your own flashcards on there and even create your own tests to become a better test taker and reduce anxiety.

  5. Your infographic is professional looking and eye-catching. My favorite part of it is the sections named try these tools and recommended practices. These will give students an exact, concise way to apply the knowledge they learned from the infographic. Without those sections, students may read over the content but struggle with the application of it. Great job!
